Samenvatting

Most arterial signal optimization models based on maximizing progression bandwidth cannot calculate the time to clear the accumulated queues before progression platoon arrives at an intersection. As the number of cars is increasing rapidly, adequately coping with the queues is going to have much more influence on coordination of the artery. An algorithm reflecting the occuring queues according to the types of arriving vehicles before the progression platoon along an unsaturated arterial was modified based upon some existing models. This model optimizes signal times and left-turn treatments satisfying above condition. The simulation results showed that the model was superior to other compared models in terms of reducing delay.
