Assessing the utility of an interactive graphic computer system: a transportation systems design problem. Paper presented at the 53rd Annual Meeting of the Highway Research Board HRB, Washington, D.C., January 1974.

The use of an interactive graphics computing system in designing a bus rapid transit system, is described. Five teams used interactive graphics to design a transit system, and, though none of the teams found a wholly satisfactory design, the average improvement in performance (design quality) for all teams was close to 50% (relative to their initial design).
