Samenvatting

In March 2000, a new 450-metre section of segregated two-way cycle track was completed in Camden to provide a link in the wider London Cycle Network connecting Kings Cross and Camden Town. TRL Limited was commissioned by the Department for Transport (DfT) to monitor the scheme. The study formed part of the Cycle Engineering and Cycle Facilities research project. Its objective was to determine the attitudes and behaviour of cyclists using the cycle track and those of the motorists, pedestrians and bus passengers that have to traverse it. This was achieved by initially carrying out behavioural video surveys at key locations to provide an impartial view of the operation of the cycle track. The views of cyclists, drivers, pedestrians and bus passengers were obtained by means of separate questionnaire surveys. This report describes the Camden Royal College Street Cycle Track Scheme and presents the results of surveys carried out to monitor it. (Author/publisher)
