Samenvatting

In the Tokyo metropolitan area, construction of Ring Roads (expressways) is underway to mitigate the traffic congestion. Recently, in such areas, constructing roads underground has been attracting attention as an approach to minimizing the impact on the life environment. However, roads are linear in shape, and when such linear structures are constructed underground, there is fear that their presence may disturb neighboring groundwater flows and cause adverse effects on the environment, such as level-up or level-down of groundwater flows, drying wells for domestic life and dying vegetation. This paper discusses the assessment and countermeasures of these issues looking at groundwater flows. (Author/publisher) For the covering entry of this conference, please see ITRD abstract no.
