Samenvatting

Traffic Warning Systems, a Norwegian company, has developed a radio based system for warning of specific traffic hazards. This report contains an assessment of the potential impacts of this system on road safety. It is estimated that the number of fatalities in Norway may be reduced by about 5 each year, and the total number of injured road users reduced by around 76 each year. In addition, about 266 property-damage-only accidents can be prevented each year. A cost-benefit analysis indicates that the value of these gains in road safety is greater than the costs of installing the warning system. This applies when all cars are equipped with the system. Less than 100% compliance will reduce benefits. (Author/publisher) For the complete report see http://www.toi.no/article17930-29.html
