Roads to the Future is an innovation programme from the Dutch Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management (Rijkswaterstaat). Together with companies and knowledge institutes, the programme gives rise to innovations relating to traffic and transport. These innovations can improve mobility within the Netherlands, ensuring that it is reliable, safe, quiet, clean and comfortable. The Assisted Driver pilot was commissioned by the Roads to the Future programme. This pilot provided an insight into the future use of Advanced Driving Assistance ADA systems in vehicles. It also examined how users appreciate and use these systems and their impact on road safety, throughput and the environment. This report will focus on the various components of the pilot and the results thereof. We will use these to make recommendations regarding the potential effects of the pilot. (Author/publisher)
