Samenvatting

The objective of this study was to examine the association between proper child safety seat installation and source of instruction. The study demonstrates that child passenger safety (CPS) technicians provide the best source of instruction to parents and caregivers on the proper installation of child safety seats. The child safety seat manufacturer's instructions also provide a reliable source of instruction for parents and caregivers. This study also reveals that doctors are not a reliable source of instructions for installing child safety seats, nor are friends, other family members, and prenatal classes effective sources of instruction for installing child safety seats.
