Samenvatting

The Canadian experience with seat belt legislation is discussed. It is concluded that there has been an increase in use and a corresponding decrease in fatalities. Some complaints about design or fit of belts are detailed. Research indicates that introduction and passage of mandatory seat belt legislation should be done quickly in order to preserve public favourability.
