Samenvatting

Surveys among drivers and police officers in Norway and Ireland show that all groups regard traffic violations as serious with respect to traffic safety. Female drivers regard seriousness as well as the risk of apprehension as greater than male drivers do. Several analyses of variance are performed in order to identify differences between sub-groups according to gender, age, number of years with a driving licence, annual driving distance, police officer ranks, and employment within a special traffic force unit.
