Samenvatting

Automatic incident detection (AID)is incorporated in modern motorway control systems. This paper concerns the activities of working group 2 which was formed by cost 30 bis to study aid techniques. During the development of aid algorithms it is eventually necessary to confirm results with real traffic instead of simulation. For this purpose the group provided a databank of real incidents and free- flow data, which in addition, gives a common base for the direct comparison of algorithms.
