An advanced technology traffic detection, measurement and control sensor system known as CCATS (Camera and Computer Aided Traffic Sensor) has been developed. CCATS uses video camera sensors coupled to electronic units that undertake image processing in numeric mode. The system is believed to be the most advanced of it's kind for the provision of complete and accurate data on road traffic conditions and for effecting automatic traffic control.
