Samenvatting
In order to assess the overall value of safety belts, tests were carried out on pregnant baboons, in which these animals were subjected to forces between 20 and 40 G. From the results is concluded that despite the possibility of seat-belt injuries to the pregnant woman and her foetus, the chances of survival or freedom from serious injury, are better if a restraint system is used. Lap and shoulder belts used together are best. This is a reprint of JAMA, 221 (1972-07-03) No. 1.
