Samenvatting
The transport policy of the European Union (EU) aims to internalise all external costs in the price of mobility and so to implement an active pricing policy. The individual member states often have their own view about pricing policy. Therefore, the reasons for implementing pricing policies might differ in each member state. In order to understand the differences between countries, an integral comparison of pricing policies in ten European countries and regions are made in this paper. Before that, the developments in traffic and transport are outlined. The paper is completed with a description of the official and formal reasons for implementing pricing policies. (A)
