During the past year, the traffic Research Section of the Office of Design and Traffic has been evaluating the use of temporary lane marking tape which was given consideration mostly because of the ease of complete removal. In the past, painted temporary marking function was completed. In many areas, paint remained after grinding and sometimes confused the driver. This condition exists on Old M-14 (Plymouth Rd.) northeast of Ann Arbor (see Figs 172) and on M-78 one-half mile east of Charlotte (see Figs. 3 & 4). There are also other areas where temporary painted markings were ground for removal and after many years, still reveal paint lines.
