TRB’s Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, No. 2052 includes14 papers that explore evaluating airline service quality; forecasting air taxi, commercial airline, and automobile demand in the United States; comparison of low-cost and full-service carriers in southeast Asia; cost of U.S. aviation infrastructure; short-haul airline crew rostering; segmentation and positioning analysis for international air travel market; and airport taxi-out prediction using approximate dynamic programming. This issue of the TRR also examines a multifactor model for predicting U.S. airport delays, statistical comparison of passenger trip delay and flight delay metrics, time-based separation rules for landing aircraft, a strategy for airline recovery from schedule perturbation and for mitigation of airport congestion, and geographic information system application to airfield infrastructure system management and maintenance.
