Samenvatting

The report suggests and illustrates in drawings and diagrams a number of ways in which such barriers as steps, walkways, curbs, benches, railings and lighting can be designed, or redesigned, to permit full use of the outdoor environment by persons with temporary or permanent disabilities. It depicts optimum planning considerations, design details and guidelines that would eliminate these barriers and points out that their incorporation into site planning could also improve the visual appeal of public areas.
