Samenvatting
This article deals with the application of operational research to the field of safety systems placed on bridges: Definition of the program, objectives and method followed. It allowed the development of an effective safety system weighing no more than 60 kg per linear metre and capable of retaining a vehicle of 12 tons moving at 70 km/h at an angle of 20 degrees. The low cost of this system makes it possible to pay back very quickly the cost of its development.
