Samenvatting

BAYERNINFO is a project running from 1995 to 1998 initiated by "Bavaria-Online" as part of the "Offensive for the Future of Bavaria" program of the Bavarian State Government and is being financed by the Free State of Bavaria and supported by participating partners from industry. The aim of the BAYERNINFO project is to develop a supra-regional traffic information system consisting of a state-wide traffic information centre and two information centres for the conurbation areas of Munich and Nuremberg. These centres are responsible for making dynamic traffic analyses and forecasts and for providing current traffic situation reports and timetable information for road users in Bavaria. Additional objectives are the development of the electronic timetable information (EFA) into a current information system for public transport and the use of small, portable mobility planners for information to road users before and during their journey. All the relevant information is also to be available on the Internet.
