Samenvatting

The task of vehicle driving typically involves a sustained approach to a goal destination, but from a safety viewpoint. It is mainly characterised by avoidance responses. Drivers avoidance behaviour was studied in a simulated driving task comprising a journey which included 15 potential hazards. Hazard probability and relative reward for delayed avoidance responses were systematically varied.
