For the determination of human tolerance levels and the mechanics of injury of vehicle occupants head-on collision tests with belted cadavers were executed. The impact speed was 30-60 km/h. The forces of the belts, the acceleration of the head and the 6th thorax vertebra were measured just as the thorax deformation and lung-pressure.
