Besides the positive aspects of the car there are also negative aspects like sound and air pollution, traffic unsafety and the use of energy. Connected with the reserve of the extension of the road network there is an effort to the improvement and promotion of public transport. The policy of the province of Utrecht for the improvement and promotion of public transport are outlined.
