Samenvatting

The paper discusses the collision circumstances in which both front seat occupants wearing seat belts receive injury in the British environment. Conclusions are that inertia reels are allowing at least as much forward movement as static belts and that forward contacts with undeformed parts of the car interior are frequent. For the restrained driver in frontal impacts, head and chest contacts with the steering assembly are common.
