Samenvatting

Determining the effectiveness of occupant restraint systems involves many considerations. These include the type of restraint system, the use of the restraint system, and the timing of implementation. In addition, alternate restraint systems need to be compared as to lives saved, injuries prevented and reduction of injury severity. This paper introduces these considerations in reviewing eight alternative combinations of seat belts and air cushions.
