Samenvatting
The purpose of this paper is to determine and analyze the benefits of Smart Transportation Management (STM) setups in three different areas; transport operations, environmental impacts and impacts on safety/security. To prepare the paper, a literature study was conducted and interviews carried out with representatives from companies and organizations that are included in advanced transportation setups. The approach was to identify the benefits of Smart Freight, Smart Vehicle and Smart Infrastructure on the threeareas mentioned areas. The main benefits of using the STM setups were identified for one or more area and even on all three areas such as dynamic routing, automatic identification, and more.
