The extent to which the CROW publication ‘Road design suitable for seniors’ is followed; Features of the cycling infrastructure in 21 municipalities in the Netherlands. The CROW (1) publication Road design suitable for seniors (Seniorenproof wegontwerp) offers, among others, suggestions for the design of a senior-friendly cycling infrastructure. This study investigated the extent to which these suggestions are followed. The study made use of interviews and reviews of ‘final designs’ for the reconstruction of 50 km/h roads. (1: CROW is the technology platform for transport, infrastructure and public space. It is a not-for-profit organization in which the government and businesses work together in pursuit of their common interests through the design, construction and management of roads and other traffic and transport facilities.)
