Samenvatting

Accessibility: a study to define and quantify accessibility. As a result of the publication of the Dutch National Traffic an Transportation Plan, Railned and the University of Nijmegen started a study to define and quantify accessibility. This led to the following definition: Accessibility is the ease to reach a destination from every relevant origin, in terms of time, costs and quality with all available modes on a certain point in time. The method of quantifying accessibility includes four measurements. First the traffic market. Here the average speed for train on corridors parallel to highways are measured. similar tot cars traffic in the NTTP. Second the transport market. Here the number of trips reaching a certain destination within time X (potential use) and the number of trips reaching the destination with a certain mode (actual use) are measured. Third the movement market. Here the number of trips, which can reach a certain destination (potential use), and the number of trips reaching the destination (actual use) are measured, both within time X. Finally the performance, especially for the transport market. Here potential use is divided by the actual use. (Author/publisher)
