Extensive research has been done into home based work trips. The relation between occupation and mode choice for home based work trips, however, has been given hardly any attention. In this paper the focus is on occupation, and the home- based work trips are analyzed per occupation cluster. The Amsterdam study shows significant relationships between transportation behaviour and occupation. People with technical and scientific jobs are mainly car users. In the administrative sector many people prefer public transport. Cyclists are found mainly in the teaching profession.
