Samenvatting
The principles of area traffic control by the present day computer are discussed in terms of the various types of control program. The interconnection of the component parts of a complete traffic control system showing how a hierarchical structure was built up using any convenient number of levels, is described. General aspects of the assessment of a system in terms of its technical efficiency, reliability, maintenance requirements, operating requirements and comfort, flexibility and relative costs, are given.
