The ANWB started almost 80 years ago with the first signalization in the Netherlands. The cost of signalization were in 1970 more than 7 million. The principle of the ANWB for signalization is the "closed system". Attention is paid to lettering, lay out, colour, position, and distance. Inside build-up areas and junctions outside build-up areas the ANWB prefers high placed signalization.
