Samenvatting
The conclusions of the Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP) are anticipated with interest in Europe. This research will certainly influence the European specifications on bitumen and asphalt mixes. This paper tries to outline the differences between US and European prescriptions. It is limited to bitumen and wearing courses. The variety in specifications on asphalt mixes is great and the differences between the states so important that one can say that each US state has its own prescriptions and principles. The overall situation is even more complex in Europe.
