On-board automated mileage and stateline crossing system for apportioning commercial vehicle fuel taxes and mileage and automatic submission to IFTA and IRP base jurisdiction.

The operational test will use automatic vehicle location, on-board vehicle computing and trip recording, and electronic data interchange technologies to develop guidelines and to field-test the reliability of automated fuel and mileage reporting systems. The expected project outcomes are auditing guidelines that will facilitate efficient automated submittals to IFTA and IRP base-state jurisdictions by motor carriers. This presentation details progress made to date, reviews obstacles encountered, and summarizes solutions proposed. (A)
