Samenvatting

This article describes the use and benefits of the NiteSite road marking system, developed in the UK by Leigh Paints. One of the main factors affecting the perception of road markings is wet weather. As drivers get older they need more light to see properly, and in wet conditions the road markings become invisible. NiteSite uses cold plastic technology to produce a structured effect, draining water from the marking to provide good visibility. A trial site in the county of Cheshire showed good adhesion, whiteness and wear resistance over a twelve-month period. Advantages include safer handling of materials due to cold application, improved durability over thermoplastic markings, and ease of maintenance. (Author/publisher)
