Samenvatting
Recently, renewed attention has been given to the role which regional planning instruments may play in the design of transport policies. Therefore research activities have been undertaken to try and explain differences in the transport expenditures of individual households, by using as explanatory variables specific properties of residential areas. A major conclusion is that transport expenditures by car- owners, as well as by non- car- owners, are mainly explained by socio- economic indicators linked to specific households and not by specific indicators of residential areas.
