In the Dutch city of Dordrecht measures have been proposed to stimulate the public transport at an urban mainroute. In practice the time lost at crossings can be reduced for public transport by such measures. Using computer programs the push back of the capacity at the urban mainroute is calculated and negative effects generated at the time lost for the remaining traffic at the crossings. Besides, the length of the queues in front of the halt-line, increases. The consequences of bus priority on the time lost for the remaining traffic are minimal. The profits of the proposed measures are small. The authorities may not subsidize this project. (A)
