Calcined bauxite from Guyana has been found to have an exceptionally high resistance to polishing under traffic. It is, however, expensive and only limited supplies of road-stone sizes are available. This report summarizes the results obtained from road trials with it and discusses methods whereby other aggregates might be produced with simular or still better properties at less cost.
