This paper discusses the Transportation and Utility Corridor (TUC) program for the two major metropolitan areas in Alberta; Edmonton and Calgary. Section 1 introduces the history of the program and defines key terms; Section 2 describes how the implementation and development have proceeded; Section 3 reviews how ring road planning and development, particularly in Calgary, was aided by the TUC; Sectin 4 discusses the present status of the TUC; and, Section 5 concludes the paper with an analysis of what was accomplished and how the TUC would be undertaken today in the present economic environment.
