THE PROBLEM OF CALIBRATION OF GRAVITY AND MORE GENERAL TRIP INTERCHANGE MODELS BY ESTIMATING TRAVEL TIME FACTORS TO FIT A FREQUENCY DISTRIBUTION OF TRAVEL TIMES OR COSTS IS SOLVED BY MATHEMATICAL PROGRAMMING METHODS LEADING TO EFFICIENT COMPUTATIONAL ALGORITHMS WHICH ARE CAPABLE OF EXACTLY ACCOMMODATING A VARIETY OF CONSTRAINTS.
