Samenvatting

Today, the passenger is the center of attention of Urban Public Transport operators. The objectives of being competitive with the private use of cars, inside a sound business model, can only be reached through ensuring a good reception, offering more comfort, more security and personalized services. All this supposes a detailed knowledge of the customers, the capability to recognize them, and the ability to communicate in a targeted way with them. Ticketing systems are directly involved in this priority to ensure high quality services. They must not only allow passengers to access the transportation network, but also offer to Transport Operators the tools to create a new relationship with their customers. A peculiar attention will have to be brought on "Information Services that really deliver"'. In order to meet this global enterprise management vision, the transport operators from Brussels, Constance, Lisbon, Paris and Venice have designed the CALYPSO "technology". The CALYPSO technology proposes an interoperable ticketing standard, which can be integrated into any ticketing system. Today, this standard is applied to a complete range of compatible products manufactured by various industrials. Many cities from 9 countries have opted to use the CALYPSO standard including Paris, Lisbon, Venice, Lyon, Skopje, Glasgow, Amiens, Avignon, Metz, Nice. Many other cities have opted to use Calypso compatible products.
