The status and organization of transportation planning in Canada are discussed. A National Transportation Act was passed in 1967 that emphasizes planning for the proper modal allocation for both goods and passenger movement. Limitations and characteristics of the Federal role in urban areas are discussed, particularly in regard to responsibilities of various ministries.
