In this paper, car ownership and use in Greater Cairo (GC) are analyzed using disaggregate logit models calibrated at both the individual and the household levels. The factors involved are discussed. Policy options to restrain car ownership and use in GC and other developing countries cities are presented. (A) The French title of the paper is: "Les politiques de restrictions sur l'emploi et propriété de la voiture privée s'applicant dans le Grand Caire".
