Samenvatting

Under the current transport system, there exists a blank, transport-less range, covering the distance from approximately twenty to thirty meters up to one kilometer, that can not be practically covered by the current system. The «short-distance transit system» is one means to resolve this issue and comprises two types of instruments: a continuous-transport type such as an escalator and a vehicle-type. This case study concentrates on the vehicle-type instrument in short-distance transit system and covers situations wherein the needs for adopting this system is highly anticipated. Through this case study, the authors intend to: (1) objectify the image of vehicle-type short-distance transit system; and (2) clarify the requirements and the issues involved in adopting the vehicle-type short-distance transit system, to exploit the possibility of resolution by means of ITS engineering technique.
