Samenvatting

The 6 km long Öland Bridge in Sweden is at present the longest bridge in Europe. This paper describes the cathodic protection system used. Scarificial anodes and impressed current was installed on piers - some of them below the surface level of the sea. The activities also include monitoring of the design and system efficiency. The second part of the paper reports on tests that show that impregnation in two steps can improve the durability of already damaged concrete structures.
