Samenvatting

This report presents results of a study to determine whether or not cell phone use by drivers contributes to the incidence of traffic accidents in Wisconsin. Cellular phone use was assessed for all pedestrians, motorcyclists, drivers and bicyclists involved in a traffic accident. Cell phone use by a passenger in the vehicle involved in the accident was not studied. Results suggest that, at this time, cell phone use by drivers is not a strong enough contributor to traffic accidents in Wisconsin to warrant legislation against their use. Further study is recommended.
