Changes in conceptual structure with expertise : differences between real-world experts and novices.

Possible structural differences between experts' and novices' concepts of psychological disturbances were examined. Four groups of respondents who varied in clinical expertise listed the typical features of three diagnostic categories. It was found, surprisingly, that category distinctiveness increased systematically with expertise.
