Samenvatting

A study is made to the dynamic behaviour of the head neck system when submitted to a strong deceleration and, mainly, the problem of the muscular influence. The effects of muscular stiffness is estimated through an experiment analysing the dynamics of the head and neck for 3 physiological muscle states. To ease the analysis of the results, a schematic representation of the head-neck system has been used. It will be possible to make a further use of these results to design an anthropometric dummy neck.
