Information on all fatal and hospitalisation accidents occurring in Victoria from 1977 to 1982 is given. The differences in the involvement of alcohol in accidents at different times of day, days of the week and months of the year are examined. Data on the relative involvement of alcohol in various driver and rider groups are given,
