Samenvatting

Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectroscopy and High Performance Gel Permeation Chromatography (HP-GPC) have both been used to characterize eight asphalts as part of the Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP). These techniques provide different but complementary information: NMR spectroscopy at the level of molecular structure and HP-GPC at the level of intermolecular interactions. Recent results from investigations in these two areas are given in this paper following a brief discussion of background. (A)
