The behaviour of children in various restraint systems has been studied to evaluate methods for improving child safety in car crashes. Sled test of various child and automotive restraint systems were conducted to analyze child occupant data in these various systems. This testing demonstrated the importance of utilizing child compatible restraint systems. Additionally, a survey was conducted to analyze the behavioural nature of childeren in various restraint systems. Observations regarding the use and misuse of the respective restraint are discussed. Ideas for improving usage rates and correct use of restraint systems for children are presented. (A)
