A detailed description of the Frosted Marble Test (FMT) is presented in this paper alongside the history of emulsions used for sealing in Mississippi and field data used for evaluating the FMT. This paper provides both test methods and test results from the original FMT protocol, as well as a modified protocol used by the research team. The test has many promising attributes, but also has equally formidable obstacles to overcome prior to widespread use. The purpose of the test is to evaluate curing of bituminous materials. Testing was conducted on eight emulsions used for chip and/or scrub sealing. The materials tested were CRS-2 and seven CRS-2P emulsions.
