Samenvatting

Using a clinical exploration method this paper aims to clarify the underlying mechanisms, around the main theme of alcohol and driving, of risk- taking and of attitudes. The norms, attitudes and beliefs concerning alcohol and driving are analyzed with respect to various groups of persons distinguished on the basis of the amount of alcohol they consume and their driving experience. The social and psychological context in which drinking and driving takes place is studied using their personal experiences as source material. This better understanding of the phenomenon of learning, on the one hand, to consume alcohol and, on the other hand, to drive is part of a more general systems approach to preventive countermeasure development.
